Taste Making is Hard Work but Somebody's Got to Do It

Hello and welcome to the Arrogant Taste-Maker. I have a habit of telling people, both friends and strangers, about things I like, things I hate, and things that are mediocre. I am a firm believer in the "its not for me but I can see how awesome it is" philosophy. Take Blues Traveller, for example. I hate Blues Traveller. Like a lot. But I can freely admit they are talented and I understand why people like them. Just not for me. On the other hand, there are somethings I love, that I firmly believe the vast majority of thinking people will love if they give it chance. Topping this list are all things Joss Whedon and leafy green vegetables.
One of my favorite things is to make a person specific recommendation. For example, I recently listen to Prince of Tides (more on audiobooks later) and immediately thought my bestie Jamie would love a book that has effed up family dynamics in an interesting setting. So I recommended it to her.
Taste-making is a two way street. There are a few people who I routinely ask for suggestions for things. My friend Dory is 2 for 2 right now with TV shows. She is the one who convinced me to watch Battlestar Galactica. And Joss Whedon said it was the best show ever in the commentary of and episode of something or other. So if Dory and Joss tell you to watch Battlestar Galactica, you do it.
So here is the place where I will sharing my opinions about a variety subjects. The things you might expect to find here are: movies, books, games, tv shows, and food. I may throw in some random things I hate and love as well. While I hope this blog is a good outlet, I will probably do this in person still anyway. I hope you comment your heart out! Cheers!

  3. This might become a game of finding things Joss has told you to do, and backing him up.
